Evergreen was written at the tail end of 2016 and recorded at 80 Hertz Studios in Manchester in February 2017 with the Up North Session Orchestra. The EP comprises of 8 pieces, four for solo piano and four for piano quartet. It was refreshing to be able to realise my ideas on new instruments and to add new tembres and textures to my writing. The EP, like much of my other work is introspective in nature. It was born from a process of looking inward at myself, my life and my character.
Writing and recording the Evergreen EP was one of the most pleasurable experiences of my musical life so far. I took the photo used for the cover myself. It is a photo of the Japanese bamboo groves located just outside of Kyoto.
