Evergreen is an EP, written in 2016, and recorded and released in February 2017. I was fortunate to have the Up North Session String Quartet with me for four of these recordings. There are also three solo piano works, and a single work for two pianos.
The Evergreen EP is about texture, nuance and rhythm, with driving melodies and sweeping harmonic shifts. The addition of the string quartet allows the piano to sit back into a more percussive role, whilst the violins highlight the melody, and the viola and cello create long arching lines which anchor the texture as well and root the harmony.
